I’m helping someone move this weekend, and it brought back memories of my own move alst July.

My blog for that weekend was “Stipper Poles and Sex on the Dining Room Table” .

Since I have to meet the moving truck shortly, I don’t have time to “reminisce”, but here’s the link if you want to see what “Stripper poles” had to do with my move… and why a particular someone is NOT helping with this move :-)

It’s Not Procrastination…

19 May

…if it fuels the fires. Sometimes you just can’t write. Day to day things can pile up and the muse doesn’t visit or even leave the slightest crumbs for you to work with. I’m going through a phase of that right now.

I know part of it is post conference burn out and the other is my tendency to be in the midst of several projects at once. This allows my brain to work without getting bored, BUT it also makes it so I get mired in details and unsure which direction to go.

Times like this I take a step back and do a few other things. It may look like procrastination to the untrained eye, but I’m refilling the well.  For anyone else looking for ideas I offer:

Pinterest: I held off as long as I could, but love to peruse some hottie boards for  help with character inspiration.  I have one but Patti O Shea’s one, is muuuuch better.

Movies: I don’t dig most chick flicks or rom coms. I find that I want to strangle most of the female leads but I’m a sucker for LadyHawke (so 80s!) and Love Actually

I’m hoping to be able to concentrate for more than five seconds some time soon. In which case, I’ll be diving into a book from my Keeper Shelf, most likely Karen Robard’s Night Magic.

So what do you do when you need to refuel, but don’t want to completely disconnect?

Delicious decisions and devil’s food dreams

18 May

Fudgy DeliciousnessAn idea for a new novel is like a slice of fudgy deliciousness awaiting that first bite. The scent of the chocolate makes your taste buds tingle in anticipation. Awareness is heightened and senses are primed to bathe in the silky sweet flavor of joy.

Right now, I’m just having trouble deciding which dessert to choose first! Oh, the options… Would you help me decide?

Of series I could add to further, No Apologies and Acting Out are in the world and sailing along nicely. I’m having so much fun with readers and am so grateful for their love of these two books! Recently, Loose Id accepted the third book in the series, Full Disclosure.

Then there’s Sheet Music and Undercover Lover–both set in the same universe with some recurring characters, but both very different books. Sheet Music is a sexy and glamorous temptation between a rock star and a journalist determined to get his story at any cost. Undercover Lover is something of an underworld spy thriller. The third book in the series, Hard Target, is under way, and is also a sexy spy game. I’ve been tickled to death by the reader response to Gunter–both on the cover and on the page. You guys are so much fun!Acting Out cover

Then there’s the country club story (a male/male romance). And the gossip story (an erotic romance). Don’t even get me started on the paranormal romance I’ve been chipping away at off and on for over two years. Last, but not least, of my fully developed yet still unwritten stories, are the D/s sexcapades from Greg and Aaron of No Apologies fame. By far the most sexual of my stories, these shorts are aimed at pure reader fun and titillation.

So, with so many decadent desserts to choose from, how’s a girl to decide what to work on next? I have two books half written and three in the immediate wings. I want to write them ALL right now! I have the same problem as a reader. How do I know which book in my TBR pile to fork up next? Are you a writer? A reader? How do you decide?

Undercover LoverFor fun, I’m taking votes. Would you like to choose for me? Tell me what to write next? I promise, my muse will take your votes and your words of wisdom under advisement! Whatever I decide, I’ll let you know on Twitter. Follow me there as TibbyArmstrong, and if you’re not a spammer, chances are I’ll follow you back!

Happy reading!

GCB Man Candy

16 May

I cannot begin to tell you how disappointed I am that ABC decided to not renew GCB. I thought the show was funny, irreverent and sassy. Sure, it was also a little campy, but I didn’t watch for believability. I watched for the humor!

But most of all, I mourn the lost of Sunday Night Man Candy. So, one last time, let’s gaze upon what we have lost, ladies…

First, we have a hottie pastor. Sure, the collar might throw some women off his scent. But that’s only because they’re not looking hard enough. I give you everyone’s favorite Sunday night wish-he-was-a-sinner… Pastor John Tudor.

Don’t let the name fool you ladies. He might have the name of a porn star, but he’s the best Jesus to hit the stage in the summer church theater… Ripp Cockburn.

And how about everyone’s favorite car salesman and former pro footballer? Zach Peacham

Okay, sure, he might be the brother of Amanda’s “enemy.” But can anyone resist a reformed bad boy? I know I have trouble! Ladies, say goodbye to Luke Lourd.

And lastly, my absolute favorite. He does a mean Lazarus, makes denim look edible and has a smile that melts panties from a mile away. I will miss you so very, very much, Blake Reilly…

I mourn. Do you mourn with me? Because my Sunday nights just got a little less ab-tastic. Boo.

Off to go look at more pictures. Tide me over until I find a new show that delivers the same consistently yummy candy. Any suggestions, ladies?

Cover Love + MD Giveaway

13 May

Once upon a time in the strange land of Publishing, an author had little or no input into the cover design of her book. My worst experience was when another author was late completing her manuscript and mine was in early, so the Publisher simply switched our release dates. As this occurred in the days prior to computer-generated covers, there was no time to have artwork done for my novel, so they just used the one created for the other author’s book. It didn’t matter that nothing about that cover was relevant to my story. Apparently I was lucky they changed the back-cover blurb.

As the years went by and my sales numbers increased, I was permitted to make limited cover suggestions and, more often than not, I got something I was happy with. In fact, once, because I asked for a long-haired hunk on a motorcycle, they managed to get a Harley into the artist’s studio by standing it upright in the office building’s elevator. That effort more than made up for the earlier disappointment.

Publishing has changed drastically since I was a newbie. An author doesn’t need to be a star to have cover input. I am thrilled to say that every cover Ellora’s Cave’s artists have created for my books has been outstanding and the newest is no exception. SERVING NICOLE is the first of a magickal, erotic romance series and the cover art is absolutely perfect for the story. (Release date to be announced.)

As a reader, what draws your eye on a cover? A clinch? Naked flesh? Storyline suggestion? Colors? Tone? Whether or not you are celebrating Mother’s Day, I have a gift for someone. One commenter will win his/her choice of one of my e-books featured here.

And now, in honor of Mother’s Day, here’s the link to the Mother’s Day (MILF’s) blog posted by my pal Shannon Emmel last year (I couldn’t compete with that one.) http://passionatereads.com/2011/05/08/the-%E2%80%9Cmutha%E2%80%9D-of-all-blogs%E2%80%A6-a-mother%E2%80%99s-day-m-i-l-f-smackdown/

Wishing you many Passionate Reads,
