Crystal’s Ode to Hotties: Tom Selleck

3 May

I’ve chosen Tom Selleck as my hottie of the day for two reasons. One, he’s Tom Selleck, classic overall hottie through the ages. Who didn’t drool over the sexy, suntanned Ferrari driving private eye in Magnum, P.I.? This guy’s been hot for decades.

But mostly because of my second reason: Tom Selleck was the hero of what will forever be the most romantic scene between hero and heroine I’ve ever seen. I’m talking about Quigley Down Under.

In the movie Quigley pairs up with a painted dove named Cora. She’s known as Crazy Cora and he thinks it’s true: she keeps calling him Roy, the name of her ex-husband. But one night on the trail when Cora reveals her past, he learns she survived horrors that could break most men. When her home was attacked by Comanches she hid in the root cellar. To avoid capture she unintentionally smothered her crying baby. Upon returning home, her husband found what she had done and told her, “I don’t got no need for a woman who would smother her own son to save herself.” He drove Cora to the docks and put her on the ship for Australia. Cora tells Quigley, “He put me on the ship and walked away. He didn’t turn around once. I know, because I watched until he was gone.”

Later in the movie Quigley finds a safe place to leave Cora while he goes off after the bad guys. She watches him ride away from the doorway of the house. High on the hill, Quigley stops, turns his horse around, and gives her that famous dimpled, heart melting smile like only Tom Selleck could.

And that is why to me, Tom Selleck is one of the all-time most romantic hotties ever.

Cheers!

~Crystal

Oh, Crystal, you are so right about Mr. Selleck AND “Quigley Down Under”. If there are young’uns out there who never saw it, put that near the top of your priority list!

Well, honestly I never much went for Tom Selleck myself but I remember the movie and the scene. It was very profound for me too. Such an emotional journey and I loved it for that. Wow. Haven’t thought about that in ages LOL.

Loved Tom Selleck. And LOVED the westerns he was in with Sam Elliott where they played brothers. Yummmmm.
